IPNN ::Intro to Pronouncing Nigerian Names::

18 Nov 2019

Pronounce this

Oluwadarasimi

O.lu.wa.da.ra.si.mi.

What is going in on in your mind when you see this name? Especially if you’re non-Nigerian, it’ll be like 1) how do I pronounce this monstrosity?  2) I don’t even want to try it, I don’t want to mess it up 3) who would name their child this? 4) what does it mean? 5 how will this child spell this name in kindergarten, the test will be over by the time he finishes writing his name 6) I wish I had a crash course on how to pronounce Nigerian names men.  Well, Laraddiji has heard your thoughts and has decided it’s about time to teach y’all about Nigerian Yoruba names and how to pronounce them.

– Thank you for clicking. Eshe O. It’s Laradiji once again, I’m a Nigerian American lifestyle vlogger and I’m all about living a peaceful life, I love talking about situations we might find ourselves in that need peaceful endings.

– It’s Octobers episode of Laughter is The Best Medicine, or the L.T.B.M section of my channel where I usually attempt to make you guys laugh under the umbrella of Living a peaceful life.

– Watch out for next month’s episode on my joke of a skincare routine. Let’s get into today’s topic, learning the pronunciation of Nigerian names, Yoruba tribe.

We’ll start with syllables, this is how words are broken down and this is what will help you in your journey to pronouncing these African names.

I feel Americans aren’t taught how to break down words so in pronouncing names, they run into trouble, they want to rush it without breaking them down like in English. The trick to pronouncing a Yoruba name is in knowing the placement of the vowels.

If you’re Igbo or Hausa, or if you’re from other African countries, we need help from you with some tips on how to pronounce names from your tribe so that we can avoid stories that touch.

Like in that new Nigerian show Abishola, names was the starting point of their friendship, that’s usually what sparks a light between two people. And if you’ve been taught well by me, then you can start having and building some new relationships with all these yoruba girls and guys If you’re looking, all this depends io getting their names right, let them know you’ve done your homework just like Bob did in Abishola. .

In English language, we have 5 vowels. A E I O U

In Yoruba language, we have 7 of them A E Ę I O Ö U

O.lu.wa.se.mi.lo.re

Bob. Why is the O in this name not O but O.

Bo.Bo

Bo.bo.du.du

Dave. Silent E noted at the end, you don’t pronounce that right?

Da.vid If a true Yoruba person wanted to say this word, they would say Da.vid

Da.vi.do

Mitch

Michelle Mi-chelle
Mitchelin Mi-che-lin
Omoladun O.Mo.la.dun

Dog

Dod-ger

Dolapo Do.la.po

HOPE

O-pal

Opeolu O-PE-O-LU

O lu wa da ra si mi

John 1 syllable

John-son 2 syllables

John-son-ton 3 syllables

2 -O lu

3 – O lu wa

5 – O lu wa da ra

7 – O lu wa da ra si mi

We can’t learn about Nigerian names without learning about this name Tunde, Tun.de which means back again. Basically, this name is usually given to a boy or girl whose grandfather or grandmother passed away before he or she was born, and because we believe in reincarnation I believe, we believe that either

Instead of getting upset, when people pronounce your name, teach them how to use English to assist or give them a nickname of your name to prevent you from getting your blood pressure up. My name is Omolara and when I realize after teaching others and they still don’t get it, or if the individual sincerely just doesn’t get my name, I’ll say call me Lara and keep it moving.

Thank you very much for staying with me until this part of the video. Living in Peace is the main section of my channel so do check out the other sections.  I’m a lover of peace and I love talking about situations we might find ourselves in that need peaceful endings. Let’s stop giving ourselves high blood pressure for no reason as we live our lives. God willing, we are on this earth for an average of 75-80yrs. Let’s not waste any of that precious time on matters that don’t help us positively in some way. You have a decision to make, if not now, maybe later, the ball of your name is in your court. ::P,FYP:: Please, Follow Your Passion

18 Nov 2019

Thank you for clicking, Eshe O. It’s Laradiji once again, and welcome to my channel. I’m all about living a positive and peaceful lifestyle, and I love talking about situations we might find ourselves in that need peaceful endings.

It’s October’s episode of the Freestyle section of this channel and in this section, I usually freestyle a topic under the umbrella of Living a peaceful life.

So today in this video, I’ll be talking about something that has come up in regards to following your passion in relation to your talent and your gifts.

If you’re already subscribed, then you’re a very important part of this family and you’re humbly welcome back to this channel, without you, there’s no LinP|RinP.  If you’re new here and would love to join us, then do subscribe by hovering over the hearts in the right lower corner and clicking the subscribe button. Do check out the other sections of Laraddiji as you’re inspired to do so after watching this video.

Do look forward to November’s F.S.T.L episode, I have a special topic coming up that you’ll not want to miss. So anyway, let’s get into this one

So as we’re growing up, finishing high school, getting into college, you’ re expected to start getting ready into adulting. At this stage, it becomes apparent that now you’re expected to be an adult. You should have started mastering this right from entering college, and for some, this has started little before high school ends. You’re starting to make decisions for yourself, especially right before you finish high school actually, you’ve already decided what you’re going to do study in college and then what you’re going to do for the rest of your life. For me, right from when I was in elementary school, I knew I wanted to be a nurse and I was surprised when we came to the States that they had a nursing program right in high school so that was good for me. I have a lot of experiences in my career now that I might say maybe I want to change my career and also I’ve had a lot of experiences where I’ve told myself, there is nothing else in this world that I would rather be doing than to be helping people in their sick time to get better.

A conflict that occurs as you’re growing up might be not knowing what you want to study or what your career will be when you’re grown. One thing I’ve always said on my channel is that your parents have a lot to do with your progress in life. As you’re growing up, they should hopefully know your personality, your strengths, and your weakness and it becomes very important for them to steer you and guide you and advise you in the direction of those strengths, exposing you to different career paths and see which ones would stick for you. Another important factor in this strategy is that it becomes important that the child himself or herself communicate his or her passions to said parents to avoid a situation where the child will now be forced to do certain programs that might bring money in the future but that the child might not be interested in, you know what I mean? If I hated nursing now, I can’t blame anybody because it was my choice and I’ve stuck with my choice over and over again,

In this day and age of technology and exposure, it won’t be wrong to say that the way we educate our children is becoming very different from what we knew many many years ago. Technology is making it very easy for students nowadays to learn and it is always changing to impact more knowledge in a safer, more technical, and ultimately in a more advanced manner. Back in the day, students might have to travel hours to get to school or have to carry heavy textbooks or pay high prices to be educated, times have changed thanks to technology. As a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, I realized I actually also have passion for writing, back home this might not have benefited me in a short term range the long run because they (meaning my parents) would have advised me that there’s no money in it,  but now we know of course there actually is money in blogging, writing if you know what you’re doing. So my parents would have encouraged me against it. But being in a country where opportunities are only a dream away with lots of hard work and persistence, it becomes important to know where your individual dream lies and then you use that to your advantage. There’s a reason why we do what we do, there’s a reason why we have a passion for some things over others. There’s a reason why we have a talent, we’re to use it to help solve other people’s problems, our creative energy is to help fill a gap in the world which can, in turn, become a financial gain.

Back in the day I would’ve said and I did say it. Work where you will get the money first even if you don’t like the job or project or your boss, but use that to save money and then you can focus on your passion. What this does is actually wastes the time you could’ve been getting betting at your talent but instead, now I’d advise that you focus on your passion get the best education in it and then show the world what you can do. Provided you have a place where you can live for free, and eat and save, oh wait for your parents’ house. If you do research on some successful or mega-million businesses today, a good percentage of them started in their parent’s garages or basements. So please follow your passion, people might even look at it in the beginning as a waste of time but don’t listen to sidewalk talk, focus and keep being you while being prayerful and hopeful and keep dreaming of your success.

Advice

  • Don’t be picky about where you are today
  • Be respectful of where you are today, your parent’s garage, basement, your 1 room apartment
  • Be proactive, save and really save your money, for what-ifs and incidents
  • Be helpful, God helps those who help themselves, and in your little way show that you care
  • Don’t be lazy, the journey to making it with your passion is longer than long journeys and harder than hard lives but the reward is sweet.
  • When you get there, don’t forget your supporters.
  • When you get there, don’t forget to give back

I hope this helps a special someone out there. And I pray that you won’t struggle too much to make it in this life provided you’ve done your part because nothing comes by accident, either hard work or persistence.

Thank you very much for reading this post. God willing, we are on this earth for an average of 75-80yrs. 1. How many languages are there in general? There are approximately 6500 languages in the world today, the most popular one being Mandarin Chinese, I know, I’m surprised too. There are 3 main languages in Nigeria, Yoruba Igbo and Hausa and there many dialects of each language, some do overlap and some are very different in entirety.
  1. What is the meaning of language? It is the method of human communication whether spoken or written. An example is Yoruba, I can read and write it and fortunately for me now, that’s an asset, that’s something I’ll be proud of for the rest of my life, there’s still so much to learn but at least I know the basics to go by. What does vernacular mean? Vernacular is an everyday language, colloquial and informal in nature. Every language has its people who speak it and with that, non-verbal communication, values, way of life, and culture.
  2. Why is language so important? The language you speak, your mother tongue, not another language you’ve learned over the years symbolizes that you belong to a certain group of people, or you come from a certain group of people who live in a certain place.  `
  1. Are you consciously or unconsciously, not speaking your language? I remember when I first came to the States, I don’t remember ever consciously or unconsciously saying I will continue to speak my mother tongue at home or anywhere else for that matter and I don’t remember saying I wouldn’t speak Yoruba but I spoke less of it. As the times went by and as I began to become more self-aware and more confident in myself, I realized, my language was an asset to me.
  1. Is it wrong to be proud of your language? Being proud of where you come from, your culture, your values, your way of life encompasses that you’re comfortable with yourself. Language solidifies these truths. When you speak your language, it is affirming that you belong to certain people and you’re proud to be associated with them. Times are changing now because we are being integrated into a modern nation speaking English and neglecting our mother tongue.

My recent travel to my home country opened my eyes to where our languages are going, especially in Nigeria among my people the Yoruba people, I can’t speak for other tribes. I realized that the population of this tribe going to school who are getting educated doesn’t even speak their native language, it is actually almost discouraged if not totally and is usually termed vernacular, and they’ll tell you right from the gates o the schools you’ll attend, Stop speaking vernacular. Stop speaking vernacular, that’s what we were told when we were in primary school and we were forced to speak English whenever we were on the school premises which wasn’t bad but then at home, we also continued speaking English while continuing to neglect our mother tongue.

Thank God I lived with my grandmother and even though she spoke English, we spoke Yoruba to her and she spoke Yoruba back to us. I remember my aunt taught us English as well because that was more influential, we didn’t want to be “local” by speaking our mother tongue, that’s how people thought back then and I’ve now realized that the thought has been maximized now. What does language even mean? It is the method of human communication whether spoken or written. I remember when I was back home and in my educational career, I studied my language Yoruba in school. I wanted to know more about it. Nowadays I don’t even know if they still teach it in schools especially when it’s considered local to even speak it.

The show Abishola here in New York really explains a lot about being proud of where I come from. pride. Italians, Spanish, British, Haitians, Jamaicans, Russians, and many others are proud of where they’re from, and when they speak their language to each other, life goes on. If someone from another cultural background takes their time to learn your language to know more about you, then you should be proud of those cultural sentiments. The oyinbo people are learning our language but we are neglecting ours, it doesn’t make sense. I speak Yoruba personally up till now and while I was schooling in Nigeria, my language was considered vernacular on school grounds because English was far more preferred. Now I see a lot of people, living fake lives, faking and speaking bad English even just so that people will not think they are ‘uneducated’ when they speak their mother tongue.

As a teenager in a new country back in 2001, I think I wanted to fit in at all cost, I remembered that all my paperwork said Rachel Obisanya, and my mom’s Christian name is also Rachael, and I really didn’t want to be called Rachel junior, I kind of wanted my own name, it didn’t sit right with me especially when all my young life, I was known as and called Omolara, so I stuck with it, and as the years went by, my paperwork starting reflecting that change. Omolara Rachel Obisanya ORO, not Rachael Omolara. My brother, on the other hand, had a different agenda, he continued his schooling here starting from middle school and you know how kids are starting from kindergarten I feel like they make fun of everything, but till today, I never knew the reason why my brother refused to be called his traditional Yoruba name called Ayo, which means Joy. Only close family members know him as Ayo. He wanted to be called by his Christian name, Stephen, you should check out his work on Instagram, StephenObisanya, he’s a documentary photographer. Maybe I should interview him one day to hear his side if you’d like that, pls comment down below.

Africans, let us wake up, let’s stop teaching our children how to be fake starting by not teaching them how to speak their own language, let’s teach them to be confident in who they are, starting with the language they speak. We are too bendable on the topic of wanting to be Americanized. Or wanting to be like these people and those people that we are forgetting our true self and our origin, let’s resist some of these changes a little. I am guilty of this myself, unconsciously I find myself speaking English to my kids and consciously now, I’m correcting my mistake. I don’t want my kids to be taken advantage of when they go home to their home country.

I remember a situation when I was in high school here in New York and we had a parent-teacher association and we were walking in the halls of the school and my mom was calling me, Lara, Lara, duro de wa, ki lode to se n rin lo ni wa ju. I was so embarrassed not because they were my parents but because they were speaking our native language Yoruba, I didn’t want to be associated with them because they were speaking “vernacular” can you imagine? This is exactly how people feel when they speak their native language now back home, they’re embarrassed, if not ashamed because they speak a different langue. I’m sure some of you have done that as well when you were young, you wanted to belong to the cool kids association and your parents aren’t going to mess up your opportunity because they spoke their language? Because they weren’t speaking English at that moment in time? Guess what, I never was part of the cool kids and I surely embarrassed myself that night, not my parents. Who does that?

Let’s start teaching our kids to be proud of who they are, where they came from so that they can appreciate their future as they are being rooted in developing themselves. What I see nowadays is some people are faking who they are, they can’t even speak English that well but they will fake their lives until they fail in their ambitions. I’m not saying don’t learn to speak proper English but please don’t throw away your unique language and your mother tongue. Your language is a big part of your identity, a big part of who you are, a small part of a big thing you belong to, and if you throw that away knowingly or unknowingly, a part of yourself will be lost. Why would you want to dissociate yourself from your people? You’ll be like a single stick out of a broom, and you know what they say about a broom, united we stand or rise, divided we fall.

My LinP|RinP Fam – What language do you speak and what is a barrier that prevents you from speaking it.what is an advantage that motivates you to keep speaking it?

Thank you very much for watching this episode. God willing, we are on this earth for an average of 75-80yrs. Let’s not waste any of that precious time on matters that don’t help us positively in some way. You have a decision to make, if not now, maybe later, the ball of your language is in your court. MGIR ::Microsoft, Get It Right::

3 Oct 2019

Thank you for clicking. Eshe O. It’s Laradiji once again, I’m all about living a peaceful life, and I love talking about situations we might find ourselves in that need peaceful endings. It’s September’s episode of Laughter is The Best Medicine or the L.T.B.M section of my channel and in this section, I usually attempt to make you laugh under the umbrella of Living a peaceful life. So in this post, I’ll be talking about an important issue regarding how our names are viewed and how Google needs to help us Africans become legit on Microsoft to be exact. Also, Watch out for next month’s episode on a little education and a how-to on pronouncing Nigerian names.

If you’re already subscribed, then you’re a very important part of this family and you’re humbly welcome back to this channel. If you’re new here and would love to join this peaceful lot, then do subscribe by hovering over the hearts in the right lower corner and click the subscribe button.  Do check out the other sections of Laraddiji as you’re inspired to do so after watching this video. Don’t go anywhere…

I was getting ready for one of my episodes one day and as I was typing up what to say like I’ve always done before, I realized that as I typed up my name, it got redlined. I’m sure this is not new for you guys and myself as well, so naturally, I went back and thought that maybe and really maybe my name was spelled wrong, nope, spelling was right, so why would Microsoft say my name was spelled wrong. I’ve been experiencing this issue silently ever since I came into this country to continue my high school education and beyond, how could I get it off? Some computers give you options to ignore it or ask you to add it to your dictionary. Has this ever happened to you especially if you don’t’ have an English name?

Our languages are so special, where we come from is very unique and that says the same to our names and the way we pronounce them. It’s also very special. Our names when called right speak to our soul whether consciously or unconsciously in the sense that we feel very weird and we feel very different when someone calls our name in a different manner or tone. But why is it that Microsoft only recognizes famous people. You don’t see any red lines for McDonald’s, Thomas Jefferson, so why should my own beautiful and unique name Omolara be redlined? I think we need Africans to wake up and let’s make our name official as well, do you think it’s possible you guys?

This is something I feel Microsoft should look into, if my name has been used to register for the software, shouldn’t that name be included into the software as correct and not tell me, a whole me, maybe I meant to type Molar or Molars or Mollura, it’s not even close, whatever that means. My name is awesome, and I’m sure your is too. This is the basic way we can identify each other. Type your name on Microsoft and let us know in the comment section what options you were given other than your name.

The way we can Live in peace with this situation is if we’re recognized as individuals first and how do we recognize ourselves as individuals? By our names. If you don’t get anything right about me as a person, what I like and what I don’t like, what makes me happy, what makes me sad, pls and pretty pls, I beg of you at least, get my name right. Same goes for living in general, if you’re already used to categorizing a set of people, a group of people, always remember that your encounter with one person can change your mind for good or bad, so always give people a chance to change your mind for good, even if their group or set has changed your mind for the worst.

That’s all, for now, you guys, its been real, please Ask questions if you have any, don’t hesitate to leave a comment as well. You can like this video by giving it a thumbs up so that I can make more of them and also you can follow me on Facebook and  Instagram @Laraddiji and subscribe to my youtube channel so you don’t miss the many more sizzling topics to come, hover on the red hearts on the right lower corner and click subscribe, why wait, its free and make sure your notification bell is activated to be automatically notified of new uploads from me. DBSL ::Donate Blood Save Lives::

3 Oct 2019

Thank you, Thank you for clicking, Eshe Eshe O. It’s Laradiji once again, and welcome to my channel. I’m all about living a peaceful life, and I love talking about situations we might find ourselves in that need peaceful endings. It’s September’s episode of the Freestyle section of my channel and in this section, I usually freestyle a topic under the umbrella of Living a peaceful life. So today in this video, I’ll be talking about blood donations and the basics of what it entails if you want to donate in your local communities. To answer the burning question on your mind, no, Vampires are not welcome.  Please, find your blood elsewhere. Do look forward to October’s F.S.T.L episode, I’ll talk about expectations, dreams regarding career paths and the reality of it all. Don’t go anywhere…

I wanted to use this platform to inspire you to donate blood in your local communities. I work in the health care field as a professional Registered Nurse and a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a fraction of my patients sometimes need blood transfusion due to one problem or the other, but where do all the pints of blood come from? Most of the time, it comes from individuals that have donated their blood into the system. I personally love doing new things and venturing into uncharted waters and I thought, what haven’t I done before that I would really love to do now? I’ve always thought of donating for a very long time and I never really got a chance to, so I began to think of how I could donate and got to researching how I could immediately. It so happened that there was an announcement on their website that day that they were low in blood volume and types of blood they had in the system, so I thought what better time to donate. I checked the schedule and saw an available time for me to go in.

Disclaimer: The information posted here was from a few websites I found online and I put them together for you so that you can make an informed decision whether you want to donate blood or not.

For starters, blood cannot be made or manufactured so, if someone needs blood, they get it through blood donations. When we bleed after a minor cut, there are 4 components that leak out, 1. red blood cells, which represents 40%-45% of our blood volume. They are generated from our bone marrow at a rate of four to five billion per hour. They have a lifecycle of about 120 days which is 3 months in the body. 2. Platelets, control bleeding. When you have a cut let’s say, they travel to that wound and grow long tentacles to contact the vessel and form clusters to plug the wound until it heals. 3. Plasma is the liquid portion of our blood. It is yellowish in color and is made up mostly of water, but it also contains proteins, sugars, hormones, and salts. It transports water and nutrients to your body’s tissues.

Most people are eligible to donate life-saving blood and Donating blood is pretty easy, And you’ll get to know your Blood Type and hemoglobin level, If your blood type is O-Negative, you’re a “Universal Donor,” because your blood can be transfused into anyone in an emergency. I believe I’m O-Positive, My husband is O Negative.

But first, what are the advantages of donating blood, some might seem a little bit far fetched

      1. It can help reveal potential health problems because they’ll test for anemia, HIV, and others
      2. It can reduce harmful iron stores because your body will be able to make new blood cells
      3. It might lower your risk of suffering a heart attack based on the iron stores in the blood which can cause blood vessel constriction and can lead to heart attacks.
      4. It might reduce your risk of developing cancer, there’s not a lot of research that backs it up or tells us which kinds of cancer it reduces.
      5. It can help your liver stay healthy, this is also linked to the Iron stores in the body and in the liver
      6. It can help your mental state because you know you’re doing something good for people who will need it, it makes you happy
      7. It can reduce stress
      8. It can improve your emotional well-being when you know you’re contributing something positive to the society
      9. It can benefit your physical health, its like rejuvenating blood supply
      10. It can help get rid of negative feelings maybe about yourself if your confidence is low
      11. It can provide a sense of belonging and reduce isolation, when you see and make connections with other people who are donating blood as well.

What are the disadvantages of donating blood?

      1. Bruising, sometimes at the site from being stuck with a needle
      2. Continued bleeding, if enough pressure is not placed on the puncture site afterward
      3. Dizziness, lightheadedness, and nausea, because some blood has left your system
      4. Pain, from being struck by a big gauge needle
      5. Physical weakness, again, because some amount of blood has left your body

What you need to know before you donate blood

I’m sure the rules might be slightly different from state to state, and country to country so please do your own research on what’s required depending on where you are before you donate.

      1. You need to be 17 or older to donate whole blood. Some states allow you to donate at 16 with parental consent.
      2. You have to weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health to donate.
      3. You need to provide information about medical conditions and any medications you’re taking. These may affect your eligibility to donate blood. Antibiotics, reckless sexual encounters, hx of HIV, STDs. Accidental needle sticks.
      4. You must wait at least 8 weeks between whole blood donations and 16 weeks between double red cell donations.
      5. Platelet donations can be made every 7 days, up to 24 times per year. Wow

The following are some suggestions to help you prepare for donating blood:

      1. Drink an extra 16 ounces of water before your appointment.
      2. Eat a healthy meal that’s low in fat.
      3. Wear a short-sleeved shirt or a shirt with sleeves that are easy to roll up.

So we got out of church on the 11th of August and my family proceeded to one of the Blood Donation centers in Staten Island, I had booked an appointment 2-3 days before online and it was so easy, I registered, booked and was expected at the site. I donated alone while my husband watched over the kids. I’m so proud of myself for planning this small project and making it a reality with my family. After donating blood which the whole blood process itself took less than 15mins, it was recommended that I stayed at the site for 15 more mins to eat a snack and relax. I hope I have inspired my family, my kids especially on one of the ways we can give back to the community and to the humankind at large. I was told I could donate blood in mid-October if I wanted. I want to use this opportunity to

Thank you in advance for even thinking about donating, that can always lead to actually donating sooner rather than later, thank you for thinking about your neighbor and being your neighbors keeper, the important lesson of this video is that you’ll never know who this is saving, your family member or your friend as you all know, we are more connected to each than we really think.

Thank you very much for watching this episode. Let’s stop giving ourselves high blood pressure for no reason as we live our lives. God willing, we are on this earth for an average of 75-80yrs. Let’s not waste any of that precious time on matters that don’t help us positively in some way. You have a decision to make, if not now, maybe later, the ball of blood donation is in your court. Ask questions if you have any. Like this video by giving it a thumbs up so that I can make more of them and you can also follow me on Instagram @Laraddiji and subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss the many more sizzling topics to come, hover on the red hearts on the right lower corner to subscribe, its free and make sure your notification bell is activated. MCMM ::My Car, My Marriage::

3 Oct 2019

Thank you, Thank you for clicking. Eshe Eshe O. It’s Laradiji once again, I’m all about living a peaceful life, and I love talking about situations we might find ourselves in that need peaceful endings. It’s September’s episode of Living in Fast Express or the L.I.F.E section of my channel and in this section, I usually talk about issues that are on the news or issues that have sparked a response from me under the umbrella of Living a peaceful life. So today in this video, I’ll be talking about how we can change our mindsets on the topic of marriage, relationships, partnerships, and coupleships, because this institution-ship is taking on water and sinking slowly. Watch out for October’s episode on, I’ll break down the issues we have as a nation and how we can solve them in LinP|RinP fashion.

Don’t go anywhere…

First of all, I want to thank my husband, my best friend, my partner in love, my padi for supporting my YouTube channel, he works behind the scenes literarily, making sure I have the best footage for my videos and he also helps me bring my vision to life. I have learned a lot from him and we are both learning as we go along in this LinP|RinP journey.

So let’s talk, I feel like there’s a lot of negative forces or maybe I’ll use negative energy that is working overtime on disrupting marriages and if we’re unaware, these partnerships and marriages will just keep on crumbling and dying out slowly. As we all know, marriages give birth to future generations, if marriages are failing now, that leads to an incomplete nuclear family unit, leading to broken homes, and eventually broken communities and societies will ensue.

I’ve compared a relationship to a ship before and I’ve decided in this video that I’d like to compare marriages to vehicles because we most likely have been in one or driven one before, and we know some basic parts of a vehicle that makes it all work together and drives us from one place to another. I feel like the generation of today wants to buy a car without learning about the vehicle and what it takes to care for it and I also feel like they want to drive a car but ignore the health of the vehicle’s engine or they’ll want to drive a car without having the proper car parts, so today, I’ll be talking about 20 parts of a vehicle and how it relates to marriage. I’m sure you can pick a car part and relate it to a marriage in many different ways but this is how I’ve broken mine down.

  1. Honesty in a marriage is like the accelerator of a vehicle. If both parties are honest in a relationship, and in a marriage for that matter, that can push that marriage forward, it can also accelerate the love in that relationship. Now if you started a relationship that led to marriage but it was based on lies, do you see how the acceleration of that marriage will not go far?
  2. Peace in a marriage is like the brake of a vehicle. It can put a stop to many things in a marriage, to quarrels, arguments, disagreements, disputes, and discords. They will come regardless but when you press the brake of this vehicle, it has to stop. Just like in a marriage, when you let peace reign, so many things are avoided. If a partner turns out to be a troublesome person and is always looking forward to the next argument, or the next disagreement and loves it when you all fight, my friend, retrace your steps fast before you enter into a life or death situation like marriage, I lie?
  3. Respect in a marriage is like the bonnet of a vehicle. It is the part of the car that covers the engine. When you respect God, you respect yourself, when you respect yourself, you’ll respect your spouse and ultimately, your relationship and your marriage. Your respect covers the important parts of your marriage.
  4. Time alone in a marriage is like the booth of a vehicle. The booth contains tools, things and stuff you might use sometimes, it keeps things you might need for emergencies. Well, in a marriage, sometimes you need time alone and Ill say it should be encouraged, it’s not all the time you’ll do couples and family, sometimes you need time alone and away from each other to reconnect with yourself.
  5. Teamwork in a marriage might be an understatement. The dashboard gives you a lot of information about a vehicle, you have the speedometer, odometer, tachometer, oil gauge, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge and many more. Teamwork should be based on reading these levels in a relationship, if you’re low on gas, you get more, if a partner is low in patience perseverance and others, you go get more. Ask your partner how you’re each doing towards the common goal of your relationship, you’ll be surprised at the answers you’ll get. . It is very important to know how much of a marriage quality you have so that you can work on yourself getting more of what you lack.
  6. Trust in a relationship is the door handle of a vehicle because it opens the door of understanding in the relationship. If you trust your partner, you’ll be able to understand him or her in some issues otherwise, there will be problems. When the door of a vehicle has been bashed in an accident, it is not easy to open that door until it has been fixed? think about that. In an infidelity situation, that’s the accident, that trust has been bashed in and messed up, and it’ll take a lot of forgiveness and prayer to trust again, if not in that same relationship, even in any other relationship for that matter. So treat your door handle with care.
  7. Understanding represents the door itself of a vehicle, it comes in different shapes and sizes in different cars. There are four doors in a car, in a marriage, it means, you can never have too much of understanding, it brings about patience and perseverance and renewed commitment. If you’re understanding, it’ll make it easier for you to be empathetic and put yourself in your partner’s shoes in some situations.
  8. God in a relationship is as an engine to a vehicle. I think it’s safe to say that the engine is the most expensive part of most vehicles. Without the engine, there is no vehicle, the engine makes the vehicle. So, therefore, without God in our relationships, it is safe to say that that relationship will struggle. Without God, there might not be a relationship, and there might not be a marriage because God himself is love, without love, there is no relationship, no partnership. When you have God, He helps to perfect your relationship, now you can have a marriage without God being the foundation and you’ll let me know in the comment section how that’s turning out for you.
  9. Faith and holy spirit can be likened to the engine oil of a vehicle, it helps to keep the engine going. It helps to keep. Your marriage going in love. Your faith in. God coupled with the guidance of the Holy Spirit helps keep your marriage going in the direction you and your partner have decided to go together.
  10. Selflessness to marriage is as floor mats to a vehicle. Floor mats get insulted a lot, they gather dirt, they pick up dust, they get rained on and most importantly gets stepped on but they help to prevent the vehicle from getting too messy. Selflessness in a marriage or a relationship requires that you put your partner first and that your partner does the same for and at the end of the day, you’re both caring for each other and looking out for each other while preventing the garbage from entering your marriage.
  11. Perseverance is an important trait of marriage as gas is to a vehicle, I mean, when you’re saying your vows, for better for worse, in sickness and in health, all that sums up is perseverance because it is with this quality will you survive the years of being married. Perseverance is like gas to a vehicle, you always have to fill it up before you run out, you can never have too much of perseverance.
  12. Communication is like the gear in a vehicle, it can put a marriage in a drive mode, reverse or in a standstill. It is also very important in a relationship and marriage that both parties talk about their feelings, their expectations of each other, and their collective goals. This helps to drive the partnership to the desired destination because if there’s no communication in a relationship, how would you know if you’re lacking in any area of your marriage?
  13. Commitment in a marriage is as the glove compartment to a vehicle. The contents of a glove compartment cannot be seen unless the doors are opened. Your commitment to a relationship is not something that’s seen but only through your actions. If you’re committed in a relationship, in a marriage to be exact, you would participate in planned activities, you would sacrifice your time, your effort and energy to make sure your marriage stays afloat.
  14. Prayer in a marriage is likened to the mirrors of a vehicle, they let you see what aren’t there, not in a weird way you guys. Prayers let you see what you wouldn’t see ordinarily, it can help you see the past and the future in dreams, it can guide you in the present and ultimately help you in your blind spots just like when you’re driving. Like I said earlier, if you’re in a Godly relationship, then prayers will help you in your marriage quest and otherwise, please let’s know in the comment section how that’s turning out for you.
  15. Patience is very much needed in a relationship just as seats are essential. Can there be a car without seats? Can there be a marriage without patience?  Love brings two people together even to the point of a marriage and as we all know, love is patient, love is kind. If your love is patient and kind, your marriage will be rosy. There’s a lot of issues that occur in marriages and if you invite patience into your life, you will scale through all those minor issues.
  16. Forgiveness is the silencer in a marriage, the silencer carries out the engine’s waste product of the car and in a marriage, forgiveness helps to get rid of toxic communication, toxic attitudes, toxic behaviors, and toxic actions. For instance, if a partner in a relationship didn’t do something they promised they were going to do and you knew your partner would be upset, asking for forgiveness immediately helps to quell the situation and prevent it from escalating into something bigger.  For instance, my husband uses hot water from our electric water heater but he doesn’t put the water part back and that gets me upset so he asked for forgiveness one day before I could even finish my sentence and I forgave him.
  17. Love in a marriage is as the steering wheel is to a vehicle, it steers marriages. When there’s love, the steering wheel of marriage will wheel you to a nice destination and when there’s no more love in a relationship, the marriage might be wheeled off a bridge or cliff. Be careful how you love, cause you don’t want to end up in a dead zone, dead wood or worse, a dead end. In a vehicle with a working steering wheel, there’s no problem right? However, a vehicle without one will be going nowhere right? Same also goes for a marriage with love, there’s usually peace of mind in that marriage where there’s love, but in a loveless marriage, there’s no peace, the partner is always on their feet, peeking at who the other partner is talking to, where they’re going and who they’re seeing and the children are peeking at who will leave the house angry first and many more, please let us take care of the steering wheel of our marriage vehicles.
  18. Humor is very important in a marriage and it can be compared to the tires of a vehicle. Without humor, marriage might not be able to move from one point to another. There’s no problem in a marriage that humor cannot solve. Humor leads to laughter and that helps to a) ease the mind, b) helps us cope with difficult situations, and c) it can help in solving conflicts.
  19. Support is another need in every marriage. Part of the reason two people come together is so that they can achieve more and do more together. Even the bible talks about one chasing 1000 while 2 can chase 10000. In a vehicle, is it possible to change a tire without the necessary tools? That’s how it is in a marriage if we’re to chase 10000, then we’ll need each other’s support, we’ll need other to lean on, and each other to learn from and support each other. I feel like my husband doesn’t support me in my weight loss journey because he buys bread for the kids all the time, he tells me not to eat it though. So support is as tools are to a vehicle
  20. Humility is a very important marriage quality to have. If you can’t tell already, a lot of these qualities I’ve spoken about lean somewhat on each other to affect the marriage. If a partner is humble in a marriage, they most likely will be committed, understanding, patient, affectionate, patient, forgive more, and ultimately be respectful which results in love and increase of love in a marriage.
  21. Bonus point. Affection is defined as a gentle feeling of fondness or liking, and the sense of mostly touch can be used to achieve this. Now, when comparing a vehicle to marriage, the wipers can be compared to affection,  what do they do, they wipe off rain, snow, ice, and dust from the windshield.

Marriages cannot be leased, you can’t use a vehicle, mess it up, and then say, you want to get a new car, no. Unfortunately, the outlook on marriage is now very wrong to the point that, you haven’t even used that car for one month you already have gotten in an accident, and now want a new one, I hope you understand my analogy. Marriage means you will take care of that car and it will last you your lifetime. You see those vehicles in Fast and Furious, Camaros I think, you see those drivers, they’re always working on their cars themselves, they know their vehicles and they work on them until they’re perfect to their taste, that’s how marriages should be, if something is wrong in it, you fix it and if it might need expert care, then you take it in to be checked out and professionally fixed, you don’t just impound it on the slightest weird noise it makes, right? Please, we can’t even begin to compare marriage to anything, but I hope all I’ve said has given you a different perspective on the topic of marriage.

One thing I didn’t get to mention and compare marriage to is that of the windshield or windscreen. What does that compare to a marriage or relationship for you? Please let me know in the comment section so that I can give you a shout out in the next Living In Fast Express L.I.F.E episode. Ask questions if you have any, I’d love to read from you awesome people, and I hope I have inspired you to continue to check the oil gauge of your marriage and also to keep renewing your license as needed, while updating your inspection and registration of your marriage vehicle, so you don’t get a ticket by your spouse.

Some people will tell you, marriage is not for them, maybe they lack some of the qualities I talked about or maybe they had bad experiences, or maybe they’re afraid, everyone has their reasons, make sure you think about these qualities deeply, if you lack any, then work on yourself first and you’ll never know who’s ready to spend their lives with you. I personally gave up on love some time ago and I decided I would rather be alone forever until I met my husband and he showed me what patience and perseverance is, this is our 10th yr together, 6yrs married, hopefully, this message gets to the appropriate person at the appropriate time and may all our marriages take us to a good destination In Jesus name.

Thank you very much for watching this episode. Let’s stop giving ourselves high blood pressure for no reason as we live our lives. God willing, we are on this earth for an average of 75-80yrs. PL&SD ::Peaceful Living & Scheduling Death?::

10 Sep 2019

What usually is the percentage of people who saw someone before they died, most likely it was his or her immediate family compared to the hundreds who will attend the funeral. Us human beings like negative things, we gravitate to bad news, we’ve been conditioned to watch, hear, see, want to touch and perceive bad things. Not a lot of people watch my videos and really listen to the message in them and I wondered why. Is it because I’m not talking about something negative? Is it because positive living is boring? Is it because people don’t want to live in peace? Is it because Living in Peace or living a peaceful life is too broad? Join me and let’s think out loud here.

Before I continue, my name is Laraddiji, and welcome to my channel. I’m all about living a peaceful life, I hate rocking the boat, to prevent me from dying sooner than I’m destined to.  I like my normal blood pressure. If you are about living a peaceful life as well, then this channel is for you. Living in Peace is the main section of my channel so, do check out the other sections after watching this one. Also kindly subscribe now to be automatically notified of my new uploads. Please give this video a thumbs up as you’re inspired to do so to let me know if I’m doing a good job or thumbs down if not, it all counts as engagement. Alright, let’s get into the nitty gritty about todays topic, peaceful living and scheduling death.

You’re probably thinking is that even a thing? Can we really schedule the time we go out of this world. I recently just started listening to this older guy, an experienced physician who has a lot of experience with treating patients and he said something that touched my heart one day. He said, “if you want to see God faster, don’t do what you’re supposed to do right now” Meaning, as a physician, he’s telling you to lose the weight, eat healthier, exercise and live right, if the pt. refuses to do all that, guess what, our expiration time gets moved up closer.

So, keep eating all those burgers, keep drinking all those caffeinated drinks, keep eating all those fried foods, keep living a sedentary lifestyle, keep gaining weight, he said, he’ll just get more business and your money. Boy, did that give me a wake up call and even though I hate to scare you like this, but really, it needs to be done and you’ll thank me later. Also, in a general lifestyle point of view, keep fighting with everybody, keep brooding, keep driving recklessly, keep keeping malice, and holding grudges, and not taking your medications consistently, don’t forgive and forget, all these will just make us age faster and bring our expiration dates closer, apart from all the other situations that can bring death faster.

I know it’s vey hard to lose weight, and exercise and forgive and not fight, and eat healthy, and take medications just like increasing your credit score here in the States but guess what, start taking the necessary steps now and start prolonging your life, you’ll be happy you started now. I’m most definitely talking to myself, this is what I do, to make a change within me, I talk to myself, trust me, most successful people today will tell you they do that too, no, they’re not cookoo.

I looked at myself in the mirror one day and I said, that’s it, enough is enough, I’m going to make more healthy choices, now I’ve moved from constantly complaining about my weight and I’m actually now doing something about it, I’m walking around my neighborhood, I even involve  my kids too plus my husband. And what that does long term is pushing my expiring date forward to a later date. Of course other things can happen to cut that short but I know that my choices would not be a part of it. So, don’t be afraid to look at yourself in the mirror and speak positive things into your life. Don’t be shy, its only you.

I’m so so sorry if I’m very blunt with you today but we only have that much number of years to make things right. Think about it, don’t you want to spend more time with your family, your siblings, your spouses, your nieces and nephews, your grandchildren? Start now, don’t delay, let’s start rescheduling our expiration dates for better ones. If you’ve been inspired to start making changes, please let’s meet in the comment section, lets rub minds together and I know we can do it, sometimes we just need to hear the same information in a different way to spark that change. I love you, yes you, I’m rooting for you. Let me stop right here.

Thank you very much for watching this episode. Let’s stop giving ourselves high blood pressure for no reason as we live our lives. God willing, we are on this earth for an average of 75-80yrs. 21 Aug 2019

Even though, this is about three months overdue, I remember this like it was yesterday. I love that I’m capturing the highlights of the months as they go by. This is just so you know what’s going on on my side. How I’m living my life, the choices Im making towards living a peaceful life.

Taking some time out to have fun is very crucial in living a peaceful life because a frustrated life can attract problems but a relaxed life can bring peace. Go out and have fun. Stay blessed.

WIAN ::What’s In A Name::

11 Aug 2019

I got frustrated one day when someone messed up my name more than once after I had told them to call me Lara, they said no, they wanted to call me by my full name, Omolara. I love my name and I love that you want to try to call me by my full name, but please respect my wishes if I’ve made it easy for you. And yes I know my name is not what you’re used to so start getting used to it. What’s Omolara got to do with Calamari or Oklahoma? Seriously not funny even If I laugh with you. If you have a traditional name, please use English to help us pronounce it in the comment section.

Mine is Omolara. O-Moh-Lah-Rah.

United States is known as a melting pot, of cultures, of languages, of ways of life and ultimately of a myriad of names as well. Different cultures have different ways of pronouncing their names and it’s very important to learn the basics of pronunciations. And also, before you start complementing people on how beautiful their name is, it is very important to at least know what it means. Unless your name is ‘Stone’ ‘Rock’ ‘Hill’. There are usually three scenarios Ive encountered when people pronounce my name. Which have you experienced?

Timbagbaojue really means ‘if I slap your face’

Scenario 1

A: What’s your name?

Timbagbaojue: Timbagbaojue

A: Wow, what a pretty name

Timbagbaojue: why thank you

A: what does it mean?

Timbagbaojue: If I slap your face?

A: Excuse me?

Timbagbaojue: If I slap your face?

A: well excuse me.

Scenario 2

B: What’s your name?

Timbagbaojue: Timbagbaojue

B: Wow, what a pretty name

Timbagbaojue: oh thank you

B: How do you say it again?

Timbagbaojue: Timbagbaojue

B: Tim

Timbagbaojue: Timbagbaojue

B: Timber?

Timbagbaojue: Timbagbaojue

B: Timberba…

Timbagbaojue: Timbagbaojue

B: I’ll just call you Timber?

So you gave birth to me right that you now want to call me anything you want?

Timbagbaojue slaps B.

Scenario 3

C: What’s your name?

Timbagbaojue: Timbagbaojue

C: Wow, what a pretty name

Timbagbaojue: thank you

C:  I don’t even know what it means, but let me not ask so I don’t get a

slap or a proverbial one.)
